A person with a growth mindset is someone who can learn from they're mistakes, who promises to do better next time , who says they can improve their work even better. A person with a fixed mindset is someone who does lose hope and gives up after feedback or a low grade, who believes they can't do any better and that the subject is too hard.
One thing that stands out for me in college is not the work itself but having the proper mindset that is required to survive yes I mean survive in college. I know that is a harsh and negative word to use but one thing we have been taught our whole lives in school and outside is to not worry or be stressed out. One factor I'd like to point out is feedback ; "the truth hurts" and that saying is 100% correct, the work you put in will always be judged in a way you wont't like whether it is to help improve your work or belittle it.
In Carol Dweck's TED talk , she goes over about the power of the word "yet". She tells the story of a High school in Chicago who conducted a test where some didn't pass the test got the results "Not Yet". I myself found this very intriguing as it wasn't as such a negative result; the words "Not yet" meaning hard luck or learn and improve your results next time instead of the hateful and sickly words of "Fail" which causes such unhappiness especially if you worked your hardest.
